    Virtual or in-person: Yellow Ribbon events benefit deploying Airmen and their loved ones

    Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, the success of the Air Force Reserve Yellow Ribbon Program could be summarized by one key statistic—more than 95 percent of attendees said Yellow Ribbon events benefited their family. This success was built on in-person events where deployers, their loved ones, leaders and subject-matter experts gathered in a conference-like setting for two days of training, education and networking on people-centric topics related to Reserve deployments. But when coronavirus shut down most military travel, the Yellow Ribbon team was forced to change their ways.

    The Department of the Air Force restored military tuition assistance to $4,500 per fiscal year and Air Force Credentialing Opportunities Online preparatory course funding for fiscal year 2021, effective immediately.

    Brown and Bass discuss PT tests, empowering Airmen and leading during pandemic

    In addition to the discussion of fitness and testing, the session also touched on issues ranging from the force’s resilience and mental health, to how the Air Force will cope with budget uncertainty this fall and winter, diversity, and how to reshape the service to confront peer adversaries, among others.

    Air Force announces second set of new scholarships for HBCU students

    The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps coordinated with leadership within Junior ROTC and its aviation program, the AFJROTC Flight Academy, to find rising college freshmen that had demonstrated leadership ability, aviation competencies, a propensity to serve in the U.S. military and an interest in attending an HBCU.

    Brown formally installed as 22nd Air Force Chief of Staff

    In remarks following the formal “Change of Responsibility” ceremony in which he took over from retiring Gen. David L. Goldfein, the 21st Chief of Staff, Brown acknowledged an array of people who influenced his life. Among them were his wife, Sharene, and his parents, as well as a list of Air Force colleagues, including Goldfein and other “extraordinary leaders.”

    US delivers humanitarian aid to Beirut

    Personnel from the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Air Mobility Command’s 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron and 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron on Al Udeid Air Base, and the Area Support Group-Qatar from Camp As Sayliyah worked to palletize food, water and medical supplies delivered to Beirut later that day.
