Air Force Reserve Command News Service has compiled a list of the top 10 stories on AFRC.AF.mil for 2015. The stories were placed in order based on the number of views.

10.   Hurricane Hunters war on weather

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. --  At 1:15 a.m. June 15, Lt. Col. Jeff Ragusa shuts off his alarm, rolls out of bed and gets ready quietly and leaves for work. The pilot and aircraft commander meets his crew at 2:15 a.m. to prepare for a 4:30 a.m. departure to fly a low-level investigation mission at 500 feet above the Gulf of Mexico into a tropical disturbance known as 91L, which eventually becomes Tropical Storm Bill.

9.     Reservists go active duty

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. --  At the beginning of fiscal year 2016 the Air Force Personnel Center launched the Voluntary Limited Period of Active Duty program. The program is offering some great opportunities for Air Force Reservists interested in returning to active duty. 

8.     Reserve A-10s first fighter to land in Latvia

LIELVARDE AIR BASE, Latvia -- Two A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots with the 442nd Fighter Wing, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., landed at Lielvarde Air Base in Latvia, marking the first time U.S. fighter aircraft landed in this Eastern European country. In the past, C-130 Hercules have landed there, and F-16 Falcons have done touch and goes, but this was the first fighter landing.


7. 24 senior officers nominated for promotion

WASHINGTON --  President Obama has nominated to the U.S. Senate 10 brigadier generals and 14 colonels for a Reserve of the Air Force appointment to the next higher ranks.

6.     JB Charleston hosts Women in Aviation career day

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. --  More than 100 eighth and ninth-grade girls from 18 Charleston-area schools visited March 24 to learn about jobs in aviation as part of the 8th annual Women in Aviation Career Day.

5.     President's Budget Request restores manpower to the Air Force Reserve 

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The Department of Defense budget request for fiscal year 2016 includes a number of proposed changes for the Air Force Reserve.  If enacted into law, the DOD budget request would restore 2,100 manpower positions to the Air Force Reserve and increase the Air Force Reserve’s presence in a number of mission areas. 

4.      8-year-old cancer patient given wings

PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AIR RESERVE STATION, Pa. --  An Air Force Reserve base full of military members and planes is quite a change of scenery from a hospital full of nurses, especially for 8-year-old Trenton Bentley. Trenton, a patient with Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, was recently selected to be the 911th Airlift Wing's second Pilot for a Day. He and his family visited here, June 24, 2015, and he was made an honorary 2nd Lt..

3.      Four AFRC colonels nominated for brigadier general

WASHINGTON -- Four Air Force Reserve Command colonels are among the names the president has nominated for promotion to brigadier general. 

2.     Reservists selected to lead active-duty units

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. --  Three Air Force Reserve officers have been selected to lead active-duty units under the voluntary Extended Active Duty tour program. EAD tours assign Reservists to active duty units to help meet active force requirements. The assignments are part of a larger initiative to leverage Total Force capabilities that includes assigning active-duty officers to lead Air Force Reserve units.

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- After almost seven years of slumber, a sleeping giant awakened in the Arizona desert. It prepared to take flight Friday the 13th from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, on a historic journey to resume the mission for which it was created; provide strategic long-range bomber support anywhere in the world, at any time.
