Approximately 29 members of the 30th Aerial Port Squadron from here, traveled to Dobbins Air Reserve Base, for a scheduled off-station 3-Day Unit Training Assembly event during the January UTA earlier this month.

The training event, hosted by the Transportation Proficiency Center schoolhouse, provides hands on training to Aerial Porters such as equipment operation and the opportunity to perform numerous tasks on available assets and resources at the schoolhouse. The schoolhouse supplies Aerial Port Instructors that provide expert training and demonstration, as well as answering questions or concerns related to the career field and training.

"The range of training is vast, from members driving a 60K Tunner" K Loader (6 aircraft pallet-60,000 pound payload capability) used for loading and unloading cargo aircraft, to proficiency training on how to screen and manifest passenger for air travel on military aircraft," said Chief Master Sgt. Thomas Buschang, superintendent, 30 APS. "New unit personnel received initial training on various tasks, while senior members performed proficiency training to keeping themselves current, qualified and ready for deployment."
