Brother Love
Lt. Col. (Ret) Rick Lester briefs members of the wing during a 700th Airlift Squadron Warrior Briefing during the January Unit Training Assembly. The colonel helped lead his troops during various aviation missions during the Vietnam War. During one mission his aircraft crew turned the radio to Armed Forces Network, which was playing Neil Diamond's “Brother Love’s Travelin’ Salvation Show.” The crew decided to nickname their plane after the song and paint the title on the door of the plane. More than three decades later, the colonel was able to meet legendary pop singer Neil Diamond during a recent concert in Metro Atlanta and have him sign the door that he's kept with him throughout the years.
