Cadets of the Tuskegee Airmen Aviation Career Training program toured Lockheed Martin-Marietta facilities and Dobbins Air Reserve Base on June 25.

The tours are part of a vocation preparation program designed to give youth an opportunity to explore career fields in aviation.

“The tours expose the cadets to different career fields, not only on the civilian side but on the military side,” said Andrew Fellers, president of the Atlanta Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. “Being that some of the Tuskegee Airmen really don’t understand the military side, we wanted to make sure our cadets had the chance to see the opportunities the U.S. Armed Forces has to offer.”

Cadets boarded a C-130H Hercules and saw firsthand the aircraft flown by Citizen Airmen of Dobbins.

“Having the opportunity to take part of this tour was very exciting for me,” said Roosevelt Snowden, a first-year TAACT cadet. “I’ve learned that there are numerous opportunities out there, and in order to achieve your goals you have to work hard and dedicate yourself in whatever it is that you want to do.”

Cadets saw a glimpse of the future and gained more knowledge about navigating the path to making their dreams possible.
