The 94th Airlift Wing Human Resources Development Council held a lunch-n-learn briefing for Airmen to learn about various topics including the Reserve-Enlisted Development Plan here May 3.

“The Enlisted Development Plan is a tool that provides Airmen an opportunity to establish a plan for their development and career progression,” said Chief Master Sgt. Lyndon Tubbs, 94th Airlift Wing command chief. “Often times the career path may not be as clear as we would like it to be. The plan gives Airmen the opportunity to navigate their goal paths and can be integral to their success as a career Airman.”

The R-EDP is the initial step of the process; it is essentially a resume for the Airman’s future. The Development Team is a board that evaluates the submitted R-EDP and provides vectors for the future. The Enlisted Development Education Board is where Airmen can apply for additional courses. The Key Personnel List is utilized throughout the command by senior leadership for selection of strategic positions, career management plus EPD courses.

Once the R-EDP is filled out, it can be submitted for a mentor’s feedback followed by coordination through the chain of command. The EDEB selects candidates for the current advertised courses through a structured process with focus on the whole person concept, information from the R-EDP, senior rater endorsement and future needs of the Air Force.

Tubbs explained the importance of the EDP - he indicated it is a roadmap for continuing one’s professional development, and helping to face the challenges of career progression. Establishing goals, developing a plan to meet those goals, and attaining those goals are key components to the Airmen success.

“Take an active role in your career for growth and development,” said Tubbs.
