Col. Tim Tarchick, 94th Airlift Wing commander, and Staff Sgt. Jasmine Turk of the Airman and Family Readiness office accepted over $1,900 on Aug. 8 of funds raised during the Ninth Annual Corn & Sausage Roast, held last month, and the Dobbins Air Reserve Base Thrift Store.

The Annual Corn & Sausage Roast raised $969, exceeding last year's total. This was added to a $1000 contribution from the Dobbins Thrift Store. The thrift store operates mostly on donations, but will also take goods on consignment. The store's contribution goes straight into the Dobbins Emergency Assistance Fund and comes directly from goods sold in the shop.

"This fund operates under the same set of guidelines as the Air Force Aid Society, except we help only Reservists," said Turk. "This money is only for the Airmen who have an emergency situation and, through no fault of their own, end up in a financial crisis. A good chunk of our fund comes from this event, so we are very grateful of the coordinators and those who participated."

Each year, coordinators plan to host the annual roast on the third Wednesday of July. The amount of planning that goes into this event is carried in no small part by event coordinators, Ron Durant, formerly of the 94th Airlift Wing Safety Office, and Dallas E. Godfrey Jr., 94th Logistics Readiness Squadron.
