Star Car
September 1980

Senior Master Sgt. Ronald E. Durant, 14th AF transportation supervisor, inspects the base commander's staff car, Sept. 1980. With 100,000 miles on the odometer and still going strong, the car, assigned to Brig. Gen. James E. McAdoo, 14th Air Force commander, has been held on Dobbins Air Force Base, Ga. for nine years. The 1970 vehicle is the responsibility of The 94th Combat Support Group's Vehicle Maintenance and Operations Branch. The unit reports a maintenance cost of only seven cents per mile for the vehicle. It has required only a few repairs, and it averages 16.4 miles per gallon of gasoline, according to Durant, who expects many more miles to be added to the odometer - perhaps another 100,000!
