Wing HRDC earns top award for excellence Published Sept. 20, 2013 By Senior Airman Elizabeth Van Patten 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs WASHINGTON D.C. -- The 94th Airlift Wing Human Resource Development Council was presented the Maj. Gen. Joseph A. McNeill Award for HRDC Excellence on Sept. 16 in Washington D.C. Lt. Gen. James F. Jackson, chief of Air Force Reserve, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., and commander, AFRC, presented the trophy to Col. Tim Tarchick, 94th Airlift Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Wendell Peacock, 94th AW command chief, during the 2013 AFRC Senior Leadership Conference. The HRDC is currently chaired by Col. L. Josephine Almonte, 94th AW special assistant to the wing commander. "The members of the Dobbins HRDC have worked tirelessly, giving their time resources freely throughout the years," said Almonte. "This award will undoubtedly motivate our committee chairs and members to strive for even higher goals." Over the course of the last year, HRDC has been active in enhancing the program to make a positive impact on Airmen and the community. HRDC has devoted hundreds of volunteer hours to local homeless shelters, resurrected the Deserving Airman Commissioning Program and has been diligent in observing and educating the base on different ethnicities and diversity within the ranks of the Air Force. Members of the HRDC were instrumental in the creation of the First 4 junior enlisted group, and provides junior Airmen the opportunity to coordinate base projects from creation to completion. The purpose of HRDC is to assist the wing commander with any and all matters pertaining to human resources with the wing. The council's areas of interest include force development, diversity, mentoring, recognition, community outreach, assignments and promotion opportunities. The overall goal is to create and maintain a fully developed, skilled, motivated, enthusiastic and diverse workforce, facilitating the AFRC's realization of it vision of an "unrivaled wingman." The HRDC meets Saturday morning of each Unit Training Assembly and discusses the status of several base-wide projects that are conducted by it's sub-committees. It is an open forum for Airmen to bring ideas to the attention of senior leadership within the wing. Almonte has assumed the additional duty during the absence of Col. Richard Kemble, 94th AW vice commander, who is currently deployed in direct support of Operation Enduring Freedom. "Our Airmen know their work does not go unnoticed, and they affect people's lives on and off base," said Almonte.
