All furloughed Air Force employees at Dobbins Air Reserve Base were recalled to work today.

"We're grateful for the recent legislation which allows members here at Dobbins to continue their noble and selfless service while awaiting funding for fiscal year 2014," said Col. Tim Tarchick, 94th Airlift Wing commander.

The guidance for Dobbins' employees follows the announcement Saturday from Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel that most, but not all, furloughed civilian employees will be recalled to work this week.

Congress and President Barack H. Obama passed the Pay Our Military Act just before the government shutdown began on Tuesday. It allowed active-duty military to continue to be paid.

On Saturday, Hagel announced the Department of Defense had reconsidered what that law covered and decided that most of its civilian employees were covered as well.

The 94th AW, an Air Force Reserve wing, flies and maintains C-130 aircraft while providing aeromedical evacuation and mission support to warfighting and humanitarian operations around the world.

Tarchick noted the contributions of the base's civilian employees are an invaluable component to the 94th AW's global mobility mission.

"I'd like to thank our civilian work force for their patience and dedication during these extraordinarily tough times," said Tarchick. "Despite the current fiscal constraints and budgetary uncertainty, you've shown a devotion to duty and country that is vital to the American way of life. Please stay the course as this is obviously a difficult period in our nation's history. I appreciate your continued sacrifice and the work you're doing on behalf of the American people."
