October training postponed Published Oct. 16, 2013 By Senior Airman Elizabeth Van Patten 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Officials with the 94th Airlift Wing have postponed the October Unit Training Assembly, opting instead to schedule three-day UTAs in November and December as a result of the continued government shutdown. The new dates for the November UTA are now Friday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 17 and the date for the December UTA are now Friday, Dec. 6 through Sunday, Dec. 8. Col. Tim Tarchick, 94th AW commander, encourages those under his command to contact their chain of command if they have questions. "We had originally postponed the October UTA to later in the month with the thought that the government would stand back up quickly," said Tarchick. "We are still confident the budget impasse will be resolved soon. Aligning this month's drill weekend with the November and December UTAs provides a much better return on the investment for taxpayers where training is concerned." The Airmen of the 94th AW will resume their rigorous UTA training schedule next month, by holding a three-day UTA rather than a typical two-day drill weekend. Should the government remain shutdown for an extended time, officials from the wing will notify Airmen of any further changes to the training schedule. The 94th AW flies and maintains C-130 aircraft while providing aeromedical evacuation and mission support to warfighting and humanitarian operations around the world. During the government shutdown, the aircrews and aircraft have not been flying due to lack of federal funding. "The shutdown has obviously presented a number of fiscal challenges for our members," said Tarchick. "If anyone needs help, I ask that they please notify their chain of command. We will help any way we can."
