Snow flurries and frigid temperature didn't keep students, chaperones and instructors from the North Atlanta Chinese Baptist Church from exploring the tactical and training mission here at Dobbins Air Reserve Base Jan. 6.

Topics of curiosity ranged from the types of aircraft operated by the 94th Airlift Wing, to the way we train our citizen Airmen and keep them safe, to the relationship the wing shares with other organizations in Cobb County.

"We have the best security forces squadron in the Air Force Reserve Command," said Lt. Col. James Wilson, chief of Public Affairs, as he gave the guests an overview of the wing mission. "They protect our members and our assets from people who wish to do us harm."

After firearm and night-vision demonstrations by members of the 94th Security Forces Squadron and an ordnance detonation robot display by the 94th Explosive Ordnance Squadron, NABCB members boar frosty winds as they crossed the flightline to tour the inside of a C-130 aircraft.

It's very interesting that Lockheed Martin is across the runway from Dobbins, said Jonathon, a student at NACBC. Although the C-130 is an exciting aircraft, the fighters that were built at Lockheed are pretty exciting also.

Shielded from the heavy winds, the visitors were able to explore the cockpit as well as the cargo area of the aircraft.

"It is very fortunate that our students are able to visit Dobbins, and gain some knowledge of the Air Force and the 94th AW mission," said Helen Yang, parent and chaperone. "The professionalism of the Airmen makes it worth the trip.

As the tour came to a close, Wilson presented the NACBC members with mementos to hang in their school, to remind them of the visit and the appreciation from Dobbins members for their support.

"Our assets don't belong to us, they belong to you," said Wilson. "We train our Airmen to be ready to defend our nation anytime, anywhere. We want to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars."

NACBC members departed Dobbins with a little more knowledge of the Air Force mission and the Team Dobbins concept than when they arrived.
"The night-vision googles and the C-130 tour was definitely the highlight of my day!" said Jonathon.

"God bless you all," said Yang. "May you and your families be safe, and thank you for your service to our nation."
