Inspiring future aviators Published Feb. 21, 2014 By James Branch 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- U.S. Navy Pilot Lt. Jordan Brown and U.S. Marine 1st Lt. Eric Schwinghammer recently landed a Navy T-6B Texan II at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. in route to Lassiter High School in Marietta to discuss opportunities in naval aviation with JROTC cadets. "This is a great opportunity to hopefully inspire some future Navy pilots," said Brown. "With Lassiter High School close to the Dobbins, it's very convenient to land here and re-fuel." Richard Rector, event coordinator and inspiring aviator Brianna Van Gordon, Lassiter sophomore and JROTC cadet, greeted the pilots upon their arrival from Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla. Brown gave them a tour of the aircraft. The T-6 Texan II is a tandem seat, turboprop trainer. Its primary mission is to train Navy and USMC pilots. "Many people are not aware of the various opportunities the Navy has to offer in aviation," Brown said. Brown concluded his presentation with a video of him taking off in his F-18 fighter from the USS Eisenhower.
