Wing inspector general retires Published March 16, 2014 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Lt. Col. Richard B. Barker, 94th Airlift Wing inspector general, was honored for 38 years of military service during a retirement ceremony here Feb. 1. His Air force career began May 1973, when he enlisted as an Imargery Analyst with the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing, Langley Air Force Base, Va. He also served at the 305th Air refeuling rescue Squadron, Selfridge Air national Guard base, Mi., before commisioning through the Deserving Airman Program in 1987. In 1991, he was selected Chief of Intelligence for the 700th Airlift Squadron at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. He stood up the Air Force Reserve Command Information/Operations Division in May 1999. He served as 22nd Air Force Deputy Director of Intellegence from 2010 to 2013. He then became the 94th AW inspector general, serving in that capacity until his retirement. During his career, Barker participated in several deployments and operations to Germany, Italy, the Balkans, Southwest Asia, and Central and South America.
