Instructors at the Air Force Reserve Command Transportation Proficiency Center, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga., has another tool in their training tool box, in the form of a Phantom 2 quad copter with a Go Pro Hero 3 camera attached.

The idea originated with Staff Sgt. Gary A. Martin, from the 80th Aerial Port Squadron, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. "As a middle school teacher, I use the Phantom in the classroom for various projects and realized its value in the mission of the TPC" Martin said.

Martin along with Staff Sgt. Benjamin T. Hayes, 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs, videographer are the operators of the helo found it can capture imagery of moving shots, various levels and angles not easily obtained without its capabilities. An example of its versatility would be a top down view of a K-Loader, load configuration.

"It allows us to capture birds-eye-view video footage and photos for use in the TPC commercial and future instructional videos and publications to promote the mission of planning, developing and conducting proficiency oriented training" Hayes said.
