Award winners recognized at quarterly commander' s call Published Oct. 5, 2014 By Senior Airman Miles Wilson 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Air Force Reservists from the 94 Airlift Wing attended the quarterly commander's call at Hangar 5 here Oct. 4. Col. Brett Clark, 94th AW commander, praised the wing for its excellent improvement in performance and morale. "We are moving forward," said Clark. "But, we need to continue moving forward." Clark recognized several members of the wing for outstanding achievements in their careers as well as the quarterly award winners. Lt. Col. James Wilson, 94th Airlift Wing public affairs chief, was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for providing superior service in a joint environment while deployed in the Philippines. Next, Senior Master Sgt. Cynthia Lemmons, 94th Airlift Wing Inspector General superintendent, received the Meritorious Service Medal for excellent service and mission accomplishments within the IG office. Following the awarding of the service medals was the recognition of those who received the 2013 John P. Flynn Inspector General Award, a Major Command level award presented to the superior IG office in the Air Force Reserve Command. Col. Larry Tyer, 94th Airlift Wing Inspector General, Lt. Col. John Vallrugo, 94th Logistics Readiness Squadron commander, and Lemmons were all recipients of this award. Finally, Brande Newsome, 94th Airlift Wing sexual assault response coordinator, was recognized as the best SARC in the AFRC, and was presented the 2013 Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program Award. "Hide the swagger in your step," said Clark, "We are on a path to eclipse every other C-130 unit in the reserve component." After these superior performers were recognized, the second quarter award winners were named. Senior Airman Denzel Johnson, 94th Airlift Wing Maintenence Squadron member, was named Airman of the quarter, Technical Sgt. Katherine Ring, 80th Aerial Port Squadron member, was named Non-Commisioned Officer of the quarter, Master Sgt. Jerry Carrol, 94th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron member, was named Senior Non-Commisioned Officer of the quarter, and Captain Blair Brockington, 94th Civil Engineering Squadron member, was named Company Grade Officer of the quarter. The 94th Airlift Wing continues to work to provide unrivaled warfighting capability, as well as striving to be second to none within the reserve component.
