PRESS RELEASE -- 94th Airlift Wing Change of Command Ceremony, Aug. 5

The 94th Airlift Wing is scheduled to hold a change of command ceremony at 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 5, here.

During the ceremony, Col. Carl Magnusson, 94th AW commander, will be relieved by Col. Michael Parks. The presiding officer is Brig. Gen. Melissa Coburn, 22nd Air Force commander, Dobbins ARB, Ga.

Magnusson took command of the 94th AW in October 2021. His next assignment is in the Air Force Reserve Command Force Generation Center, Robins Air Force Base, Ga. He is a command pilot and senior navigator with more than 5,000 flight hours in various U.S. Air Force and NASA aircraft. He is a native of Oklahoma.

Prior to taking command of the 94th AW, Parks served as 507th Air Refueling Wing commander, Tinker AFB, Okla. He is a command pilot with more than 3,500 flight hours in U.S. Air Force tanker, airlift, and distinguished visitor support aircraft. He is a native of Ohio.

The 94th AW is equipped with eight C-130H3 cargo aircraft that support joint service and multi-national airlift missions in the U.S. and around the world. The wing is comprised of nearly 2,000 citizen Airmen and civil service employees and is comprised of a headquarters element, three groups and 13 squadrons. Additionally, the 94th AW commander is responsible for the entire installation, which hosts more than 12,000 personnel from various tenant organizations. These units include 22nd Air Force, Georgia Army and Air National Guard Headquarters, Navy Reserve Center-Atlanta, U.S. Marine Corps Combat Logistics Regiment 45, U.S. Army Reserve, Lockheed-Martin, and Georgia Tech Research Institute.
