DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga.--Specialist Isaiah Gadsden was awarded the Dobbins Military Spouse Group Dependent Scholarship here August 4, 2020. Gadsden is the son of Chief Daniel Gadsden, 94th Maintenance Squadron superintendent.

After submitting an application with an essay describing how the Air Force core values relate to his life, Gadsden was surprised with the award by the Dobbins Military Spouse Group. The University of North Georgia student is a Marketing major with a minor in Leadership. Currently, he serves as an Army National Guard infantryman with B Co 1/121, but he aspires to one day be a commissioned officer In the Army National Guard.

“I was surprised and thankful when I found out,” exclaimed Gadsden. He believes he was chosen due to his previous awards earned and through participation in other extracurricular activities. Gadsden is also a member of ROTC.

Gadsden believes scholarship opportunities like this are important because not everyone is able to pay for college and contributions like this help to alleviate a bit of financial burden that higher education can present for students.

Gadsden’s advice to others who may want to submit an application for this scholarship: Even if you believe you won’t win the scholarship, apply anyway. When he applied he did not think he would win but decided to do it and it worked out in the end, he said.

Gadsden would like to thank the Dobbins Military Spouse Group for this great opportunity.
