In celebration of the 94th Airlift Wing's transition from a training wing to an operational wing, senior leadership is sponsoring a contest to give our C-130's a new look on its tail fin. The current "tail flash" features our air reserve base name--"Dobbins ARB" with a blue background and yellow stripes.

"A new tail flash look that would signify our new upcoming mission is exactly what we're looking for," said Maj. Peter Wojihowski, 94th Aircraft Maintenance Flight commander. "The senior leadership wants the opportunity to create a new logo to all of our Airmen and civilians within the wing."

An example of a tail flash that represents its unit is the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station's C-130 logo. Their logo has a graphic illustration of Niagara Falls with the name "Niagara" highlighted within the logo. "Their tail flash is a reflection of their name, location and heritage of one that area's most popular attractions," said Major Wojihowski. "Wing leadership is inviting Reservists, and civilians to submit unique graphics that reflect our long tradition of excellence while representing the metro Atlanta area and the state of Georgia. "

The dimensions for the tail flash are as follows--12 inches by 143.5 inches. Per maintenance regulations, the location of the tail flash is located 10 inches below a two-inch upper stripe below the bottom of "AMC." The lower stripe is located 12 inches below the bottom of the upper stripe. The top horizontal stripe will run from 25 inches forward of leading edge seam to trailing edge of rudder, not to extend onto rudder trim tabs. The bottom stripe will run from 27 inches forward of leading edge seam to trailing edge of rudder.

Submit your ideas to Senior Master Sgt. Joseph Brown at Joe.Brown@dobbins.af.mil and Maj. Peter Wojihowski at Peter.Wojihowski@dobbins.af.mil by Feb. 8. Entries should include a color graphic of how the tail flash would look. Also include a short paragraph of why the tail flash should be the winner and how it represents the 94th Airlift Wing and the state of Georgia.
