More than 600 military chapels were built in 1942 to be distributed around the world. Years later Dobbins Air Reserve Base was one of the lucky bases to receive one.

In the building's 67 years of existence, hundreds of people have entered it's doors. Now the Dobbins Chapel Foundation is working diligently to keep it up and running. The foundation is made up of several retired service members including Chief Master Sgt. Dick Roberts, Col. John Powers and Chief Master Sgt. John Briley, all retired members of the Georgia Air National Guard.

These men have a combined time of more than 99 years of military service between them. The Dobbins Chapel Foundation has built a brides room inside the chapel, put in new carpet and replaced windows among many other tasks.

During the June Unit Training Assembly they are requesting volunteers to help out with various tasks or to make any contributions to the chapel foundation, "which would be greatly appreciated," said Chief Roberts.

"The Dobbins Chapel Foundation would also like to give a special thanks to the 94th Airlift Wing commander, and other base leaders for allowing them to preserve this piece of history," added Chief Roberts.
