The Department of Health and Human Services is the lead federal agency for preparedness and response to this health emergency. DoD is monitoring this public health emergency very closely. DoD's first priority is to preserve the ability of servicemen and women and DoD civilians worldwide to provide for national defense and sustain current military operations worldwide. There are no indications of any impact to military operations. Should the current Swine Flu mutate into a pandemic strain, the DoD will respond to preserve combat capabilities and readiness, save lives, and reduce human suffering for all service members, DoD civilians and their families.
