Base gears up for 6th annual Corn n' Sausage Roast Published June 19, 2009 By Ron Durant 94th AW Safety Office DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- It's that time of year again to enjoy a summer cook-out featuring food, fellowship, a free car show and the great Georgia weather put on by the Dobbins Emergency Fund Raising Committee. You can have all of this and help out our Dobbins Family. Simply, buy a $7 lunch ticket and attend the Annual Corn N' Sausage Roast at Lake Side, which is planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 15. A free car and motorcycle show will begin at 10:30 a.m., adjacent to the event. This event is really a treat and is a "repeat performance" requested by many of our friends at Dobbins ARB. There is a limited number of tickets available, so employees are encouraged to buy a ticket soon. Proceeds go to the 94th Family Readiness Emergency Fund. The funds are dispersed to our Dobbins family, in their time of need and fills the void where there isn't another agency to assist them. Last year's event raised $2,056.00 for the emergency fund. All one needs to do is purchase a ticket, show up hungry and enjoy food and fellowship. All the hot, "grungy" work is done by a few hard-working, dedicated individuals, whose primary interest is to better the lot of our members and families. Anyone interested in volunteering for the event should call Ron Durant, 94th Safety Office, at 678-655-4434. In addition to good food and fellowship, attendees are eligible for door prizes and "the price is right" on many donated unique one-of-a-kind handmade items during an auction. Bring cash in order to purchase these items. They make great gifts for that hard to please person. Contributions go into the "kitty" and pluses-up the amount of funds for this very worthwhile event. Posters will be displayed throughout the base to serve as a reminder and lists persons to contact to purchase your tickets. Hope to see you there.
