Dobbins C-130 flyover to jumpstart Peachtree Road Race Published June 30, 2009 Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- A C-130 Hercules from here will help kick off the start of the Peachtree Road Race July 4 around 7 a.m. with a flyover in downtown Atlanta. The annual 6.2 mile race takes nearly 55,000 runners from the streets of Buckhead to the high rises of Midtown and finishes in the famous Piedmont Park. The Peachtree Road Race is the largest running event of any distance in the United States and is considered among the most prestigious events in the sport. Dobbins ARB traditionally has a team run in the race to help commemorate the 4th of July and to promote the benefits of fitness and the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
