Volunteer for National Public Lands Day Published Aug. 3, 2009 Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Looking for a way to give back to your community while enjoying the lovely outdoor weather? How about volunteering for the 16th annual National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 27. National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy. In 2008, nearly 120,000 volunteers built trails and bridges, removed trash and invasive plants and planted more than 1.6 million trees. Reserve Airmen should be good stewards of the environment just like any other citizen. For a list of volunteer sites in your area, visit http://www.publiclandsday.org/involved/sites.htm.
