Annual Employers' Day a success Published Sept. 17, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Chelsea Gitzen 94th Airlift Wing / Public Affairs Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. -- Over 20 civilian employers visited Dobbins on Sept. 12 for Employers' Day. "I thought the event was great," said Dr. Scott Ediger with the Southeast Permanente Medical Group, employer of Steven Klein, a Reservist from the 94th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, "It was very educational and professionally done." Employers' Day is an annual event at Dobbins where Reservists' civilian supervisors get the opportunity to see just how their employees serve their country during a Unit Training Assembly, and what they might experience if they deployed. The day began with a brief from the 22nd Air Force Vice Commander, Col. John Andre, the 94th Airlift Wing Commander, Col. Heath Nuckolls and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve representatives. "My favorite part of the day was the orientation briefing," said Dr. Ediger, "It was very interesting to learn about the role of the Air Force Reserves and the 22 AF." The employers visited the 94th Services Squadron's simulated deployed environment setup and toured the facilities, getting to see what military members could expect during a deployment. The C-130 orientation flight included a mock aeromedical evacuation by 94th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron personnel. The Employer Suppot of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) sponsored the lunch at the dining facility, which gave employers a first hand taste of what is served during a UTA. "The ESGR is actually here to help you conduct your business, and to help the Guardsmen and Reservists as well," said Paige Joyner, ESGR representative. With knowledge of what Reservists do for the military, these employers are now able to pass along that information to others, increasing support for the Reserve mission.
