PA Pigskin Picks: Week 5 Published Oct. 7, 2009 By "The Football Czar" Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- *Editor's Note: The 94th Public Affairs office has started a weekly "PA Pigskin Picks" competition. Correctly guess who will win NFL games each week for a chance to win prizes and be named the Pigskin Expert of the Week. Winners will be announced on the Web site each week.* Congrats to Staff Sgt. William Montero, 80th Aerial Port Squadron, who is the Pigskin Expert of Week 4. Everyone did much better during this week's picks compared to last week when many missed five or more games. By Monday, there were a dozen people tied for first place with only two missed games. By Tuesday morning, William was tied with Richardean Mitchell (who won Week 3) as they both missed two games and predicted the same score of 21 - 28. In the end, the only fair thing to do was flip a coin and William won. Perfect records There was a lot on the line during Monday night's game. Not only was Vikings' quarterback Brett Favre playing against the Packers, his old team that traded him to the Jets in 2008, but he also had an opportunity to propel the Vikings to a 4-0 ranking. Favre did that and more, completing 24 of 31 attempts for 271 yards and no interceptions as he led the Vikings to a 30-23 victory over the Packers. Oh yeah, he also became the first quarterback to beat all 32 NFL teams. Not bad for a guy who turns 40 on Saturday. Now, there are five teams with a perfect 4-0 record a quarter of the way through the 2009 NFL season. These teams include the Giants, Colts, Saints and Broncos. Those Manning brothers are getting it done. On the flip side, there are five teams with a perfect losing record of 0-4, including the Chiefs, Rams, Buccaneers, Browns and the ... Titans? Even the Lions have been able to squeeze in a win this year. But surprisingly, the Titans are still without a win this season, pulling a complete 180 from their strong 4-0 start last year. So much for trying to top that 13-3 record from last year ... Week 5 will showcase the Atlanta Falcons returning from a bye week to face a San Francisco 49ers team who are holding their own at 3-1. The 49ers also ended the Michael Crabtree holdout, and finally signed the first-round draft pick wide receiver to a six-year contract. The Falcons defensive coordinators aren't taking any chances and are prepared to play Crabtree if he starts. Don't forget to turn in your Week 5 entry form by Friday, Oct. 9 at 4:30 p.m. The warm ups are over, start bringing your A game!
