Project FGWB07-0001, Seal Overruns and Repaint Chevrons,  was funded for $188,919.96 and was accomplished during an airfield closure here from Sept. 5-9.

Sealing of the overruns on 420,000 square feet was done in an attempt to alleviate a potential for hazard. The previous sealant had deteriorated and jet blasts and storms allowed loose stone to be blown off of the overrun.

"Foreign object damage (FOD) can be drawn into jet engines which can cause serious damage to the engines," said Kristin Gordon, project engineer, 94th Civil Engineering. "The damage could result in an in flight engine failure which would threaten human life."

Chevrons were repainted after the sealant on the overruns was applied.
