PA Pigskin Picks: Week 9 Published Nov. 4, 2009 By "The Football Czar" Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Congratulations to Staff Sgt. Willie Turpin, 94th Security Forces Squadron, the Pigskin Expert of Week 8. Willie was the lone winner with only two missed games. Even if he tied with someone else, he was only one point off of the final score for the Rams vs. Lions tiebreaker game. Excellent showing! We're halfway through the season and there are still nine chances to win. So for our faithful members from Base Ops, Maintenance, the 700th and Security Forces who always enter but haven't won yet, keep trying! Week 9 will start with two teams remaining undefeated, the Colts and the Saints. The Broncos had started Week 8 undefeated, but finally lost their first game in a tough defensive match against the Baltimore Ravens. The Rams finally snapped their losing streak against the Lions, leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the only team in the NFL yet to win a game. At least they will not lose again this Sunday since they have a bye week. The Colts will face the improving 5-3 Houston Texans. The Texans have won their last three games defeating the Bengals, 49ers and the Bills. The Colts are undefeated but they struggled to beat the 49ers last week. November will be a very challenging month for the Colts. They will face the Texans, Patriots, Ravens and the Texans again in their next four games. The Saints have been nothing short of impressive during the season. In their seven victories they are averaging a whopping 40 points per game. In their next three games they will face the Panthers, Rams and the Buccaneers who all average between nine to 18 points per game. Let's just say the Saints have an excellent chance at going 10-0. The Falcons had a chance to beat the Saints Monday night at the Superdome, but they fell short 35-27. Quarterback Matt Ryan completed 19 of his 42 pass attempts with only one touchdown and three interceptions. Running back Michael Turner had 20 carries for 151 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons will try to break their two-game losing streak this week against the Redskins, who have struggled with their quarterback and coaching staff. It's another UTA weekend so Week 9 entry forms are due by 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Good luck!
