Blue Angels visit Dobbins ARB in preparation for 2010 air show Published Dec. 7, 2009 By Erin Tindell Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Only a couple months after Naval Air Station Atlanta departed, the roar of an F/A-18 Hornet returned to Dobbins when a U.S. Navy Blue Angels site survey team arrived Dec. 4. The Blue Angels team consisting of Navy Lt. C.J. Simonsen, No. 7 advance pilot and performance narrator, and Lt. Amy Tomlinson, events coordinator, conducted safety checks of the surrounding area and attended meetings to determine if the team can perform at Dobbins 2010 "Wings Over Atlanta" air show. The air show is scheduled for Oct. 16-17, 2010 and if approved, will feature both the Blue Angels and the Canadian Snowbirds and other civilian aerobatic acts. The Blue Angels is the U.S. Navy's premier flight demonstration squadron and the oldest flying aerobatic team. Since 1946, they have performed for more than 427 million fans worldwide.
