As the new year approaches, employees are encouraged to take full advantage of the Physical Fitness Program that is offered to all Air Force civilian personnel including traditional civil service and Air Reserve Technicians.

There is much to be said about the benefits of regular fitness activity. Virtually everyone can score health benefits from activity, including strengthened muscles, increased flexibility and stronger bones.

Regular periods of exercise contributes to positive mental health in the form of stress and anxiety relief. Unfortunately, most people aren't active enough. According to the American Heart Association, a lack of physical activity attributes to about 250,000 deaths a year in this country.

Civilians should carefully read the Wing policy letter here, as well as the mandatory employee request and physician's certification here.  Civilians should not start any fitness program (whether at work or on their own) before getting cleared by his or her doctor.

Adherence to the rules set forth in the policy letter will be strictly enforced.

As a reminder, the Fitness Center offers free group exercise every Monday and Friday at 10 a.m.

Questions concerning the Physical Fitness Policy should be addressed to the Civilian Personnel Flight, David Pritchard, 678-655-5036 or Vanessa Miguel, 678-655-4973.
