Angelita Colón-Francia Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Air Force Services Family Member Programs is excited to sponsor the 2010 Air Force Space Camp Program at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala. Youth will experience, imagine and interact through Space Shuttle mission simulations, tours of the center and the chance to witness first-hand the everyday challenges faced by astronauts. The camp is an inspiring week of fun and enriching space activities. A total of 48 scholarships are available for youth ages 12 - 18 to participate in the AF Space Camp Program. The camp is divided into two age divisions - 32 youth, ages 12 - 14, will be selected to participate in the Space Academy; and 16 teens, ages 15 - 18, will be selected to attend the Advanced Space Academy. Both camps will be conducted July 25 - 30. The program is open to family members of active duty military assigned to or living on an Air Force installation, AF retired military, AF civilian employees, or activated Air National Guard or AF Reserve. All lodging, meals and activity fees after arrival at Space Camp are centrally funded. All transportation and travel expenses to and from the U.S .Space and Rocket Center are the responsibility of the attendee. A minimum GPA of 2.8 is required. Interested AF Reserve youth must complete a "2010 Space Camp Application" and submit the completed application via email to Ms. Stacey Young at stacey.young@us.af.mil or Ms. Brandi Mullins at brandi.mullins.ctr@us.af.mil no later than April 9. Youth of active duty personnel and civilians must apply through the Youth Programs at their installation. Air Force Services will select and announce camp participant no later than June 10. Youth may only participate in the AF Space Camp Program once with one exception - those who participated in the Space Academy for 12 - 14 year olds are now eligible for the Advanced Space Academy.
