Col. Steven Slick took command of the 506th Air Expeditionary Group from Col. Leonard Dick during a change of command ceremony at Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq, April 22. Brig. Gen. Craig Franklin, commander of the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing, Joint Base Balad, Iraq, was the presiding official for the ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by Iraqi air force members, mission partners from the Iraq Training and Advisory Mission - Air Force, and the men and women of the 506th AEG.

Slick is deployed from Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga., where he serves as the commander of the 94th Mission Support Group. Colonel Slick has held a variety of positions throughout his military career, including fighter pilot, director of quality and Mission Support Group commander. He is a senior pilot with more than 2,000 hours of flight time. Upon accepting his position as the new base commander, the colonel expressed a desire to keep the mission going strong.

"I very much look forward to continuing the incredible work that Col. Lenny Dick has done in moving this group forward," the incoming commander said. "Securing the base, safe fight operations and enabling our Iraqi partners - that's our mission and that's what we're here to do."

Dick will return to Tucson, Ariz., where he serves as the vice commander for the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center.
