Family Day is an opportunity for families to show their thanks and support to reserve members. It also allows families to see what we do here on base, said a civilian employee of the 94th Airlift Wing Fire Department who has been employed here for nine years.

The Dobbins community, which comprises civilian and military employees, retired servicemembers, their families and other locals gathered for Family Day here May 1.

Col. Heath J. Nuckolls, commander, 94th Airlift Wing, shared welcoming words and awarded the Spouse of the Year award to Lorraine LaRue, wife of Senior Master Sgt. Philip LaRue, 94th Airlift Wing Maintenance Squadron.

Military and local vendors hosted various booths which provided free food, information, entertainment and giveaways.

The agenda also featured games and events for kids and adults, a giant slide, an obstacle course, a dunking booth, an "old fashioned" fire muster, paddle boats and a security forces demonstration amongst others.

Many families showed their appreciation for this event by their participation and their remarks.

"We get a chance to meet the other wives," said spouse of Senior Airman Russell Kuhlman, 94 Security Forces Squadron member.

"Wow!" exclaimed 7-year-old Levi Ellis as he and his family passed a display at one of the booths. This was his family's first year participating in this event and they said they would definitely come back in the future.
