SBA acknowledges Dobbins contractor for regional award

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has named Windamir Development, Inc., its 2010 Regional Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year. The SBA Region IV Award covers the region of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The award was presented to Windamir June 10 at Dobbins by Mitchell Morend, U.S. Small Business Administration area director, who said "the competition was very keen and very swift."

The Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year award honors small businesses that have provided the government and industry with outstanding goods and services as prime contractors.

Windamir worked on several renovation projects at Dobbins; recent projects include the contracting office, lodging facility and the ground control approach facility.

"We are honored to have been selected for this prestigious award," said Windamir President Kimberly Glover. "This award is recognition of the commitment Windamir's employees have made to consistently provide the highest level of service, quality, and value to our customers."

Windamir, headquartered in McDonough, Ga., provides a wide range of construction services to Department of Defense and other federal customers throughout the Southeastern U.S. This woman-owned and SBA 8(a)-certified small business has contracts ranging from $25,000 to $5 million. Since its inception in 2004,Windamir has grown from seven to 60 employees and includes a broad range of capabilities including design-build, traditional construction, and infrastructure projects as well as specialty services including airfield, electrical substations and anti-terrorism force protection.
