Turn off computers at the end-of-work week; printers off end-of-day Published Aug. 3, 2010 DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- The information forwarded on Energy Awareness is in direct response to our Base Commander's wish to be energy compliant. The trade-off for a longer boot-up time on the first day of your work week was small in comparison to the amount of energy we are trying to conserve. A few questions that have been asked: Do we turn off our computers at the end of the work week, or keep them on as the 94th CF had directed. Yes, turn them off. Patches if pushed will begin updated on the first boot up on your first duty day back. Are Printers included? Yes, turn your printers off at the end of the day. While we are continuously working to make our facilities more efficient, we need everyone's help. TIPS: 1. Identify wasteful energy usage to your building manager or to CE. 2. Shut off lights & NON-COMPUTER equipment when not in use. 3. Printers can be shut off at the end of each day. 4. On your last duty day of the week, do a "shut down" on your computer before you depart. On other days, "Log Off" the computer, but leave it powered on. Thanks for your cooperation & support! We do understand that this is changing the way we did business, but this allows Dobbins ARB to become more energy efficient. Any other questions on this matter should be directed to the Base Energy Manager Hugh Phillips, PE @ 678-655-3537.
