The carnival featured various contests, games and interactive activities that emphasized fire safety and prevention for both on and off-campus living. Georgia State University students and community members learned how to use fire extinguishers, test and monitor fire alarms, identify fire hazards and how to notify the fire department using 911. Dobbins fire personnel introduced their interactive robot "Pluggy" to entertain and at the same time promote fire safety awareness as well as gave a demonstration on the dangers of improperly handling grease fires. Firefighters demonstrated the live burn of two mock dorm rooms one with and one without water sprinklers, emphasizing how rapidly fires can spread.
