Continuing the commitment

The 94th Civil Engineer Squadron celebrated the reenlistments of three of its Airmen during the December unit training assembly weekend.

The Airmen who took the Oath of Enlistment on Dec. 4 are Tech. Sgt. Randolph LaJoie, 94th CES heating, ventilation and air conditioning NCOIC; Staff Sgt. Daniel Neglia, 94th CES fireman; and Staff Sgt. Joseph East, 94th CES pavements maintenance and heavy equipment operator.

The reasons each Airman reenlisted varied but were connected with a commitment to continue their service to their country.

"When I initially joined, I wanted to travel," said Sergeant LaJoie. "So far, I've achieved a total of 18 years with the Air Force."

Sergeant Neglia gave a different reason for initially enlisting seven years ago. "At the age of 17 I wanted to do something different," he said. "I had to get a permission slip from my mom to join."

"Being in the military helps to instill a sense of appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans," said Sergeant East, who celebrated his first reenlistment with his recruiter who enlisted him six years ago and now recruits at Dobbins Air Reserve Base.

That recruiter is Senior Master Sgt. Kristyn Ervin.

"The military helps to build one's character and leadership abilities," said Sergeant East. "Also, the educational benefits help you to excel in life."
