Changes to Dobbins recycling program April 1 Published March 10, 2011 Dobbins Environmental DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Starting April 1: PLASTICS will no longer be collected on base for Recycling. This includes plastic food and beverage containers, plastic bags, and Office Plastics. GLASS food and beverage containers will no longer be collected on base for recycling. ALUMINUM / STEEL CANS will only be accepted for collection at the Recycling Center, Bldg 560. There may initially be one collection container remaining in a large break room for cans that will be initially serviced, but if plastic bottles or other trash are found in it, the container will no longer be serviced. CARDBOARD and PAPER products (including fiberboard, phone books, newspaper, office papers, etc.) will still be collected in facilities, and will be accepted from homeowners at the Recycling Center. SCRAP WOOD will still be accepted at the Recycling Center (raw wood, no wood items). SCRAP METAL will still be accepted at the Recycling Center (no government recognizable items, no appliances, no hazmat contaminated items, no unpunctured aerosol cans). BATTERIES, large and small, will be accepted at the Recycling Center. Homeowners can still recycle plastics, glass or other materials from home by locating their nearest recycling facility.
