INNERview is a special spotlight for members of Team Dobbins who don't always get recognized for their accomplishments on base and outside of the gates. If you would like to nominate someone please call Public Affairs at (678) 655-5055.

Tech. Sgt. Valentino Bradford
94th Airlift Wing Safety Office

What is your job title and what are the duties of your job title?
I am newly assigned to the office. My title is ground safety apprentice. My job duties include performing annual safety inspections and assessments of all unit safety programs within the 94th AW. My job also requires me to provide guidance in the timely process of mishap reporting, response and notification procedures.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy the camaraderie of the Airmen I work with. Before joining the team, I was already familiar with the wing safety office and its operation.

What was your last duty assignment?
I was assigned to the 94th Communications Flight as a cyber-transport craftsman.

Why did you change your career field?
My civilian career is in communications. I felt the sincere need for a change. Also the additional duty as the unit safety representative involved me in program management. Through this experience other opportunities opened up.

What inspired you to join the Air Force Reserve?
There are several reasons. I wanted to serve my country. The educational opportunities were available. And there was valuable experience to gain in communications and electronics. I still believe the military is the best paid training a person can receive.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy volunteering at my child's school and just relaxing--taking it easy and enjoying life.

Are you currently in school?
No, I have a college degree. But I am currently enrolled in an on-line information technology certification program.

What advice would you give young people (junior high through college age) regarding what it takes to be successful?
First of all, I believe in the power of prayer. Secondly, I would advise a young person to become a jack-of-all-trades.  By this I mean, you should be prepared for other opportunities.
