Trion High School in Trion, Ga. recently received an "Above and Beyond Award" from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

Trion received the award after Tech. Sgt. Jason Paseur, member of the Dobbins' Force Support Squadron and Trion history teacher, wrote an essay to the Awards Committee two years ago demonstrating the lengths Trion has gone in granting him leave for military duty when the Air Force mission requires.

The"Above and Beyond Award" is given to sixty employees in the state of Georgia, and is presented annually by the Georgia ESGR Committee during an Annual Awards Dinner. The dinner is held at premier locations across Georgia and recognizes award recipients for their exceptional support of the National Guard and Reserve. This year's event was held at the Macon Marriot City.

Trion received two certificates that are now on display in the high school lobby.

Each year, the Georgia ESGR recognizes companies whose policies have gone above and beyond the requirements of the federal law in supporting the service members they employ. Examples of above and beyond support from employers of RC members include continuation of benefits, providing pay differential and assisting with childcare.
The high school showed their patriotism over the past four years when Paseur joined the Trion Bulldog staff.

"The administration and office staff members are more than willing to help and encourage me when I'm absent from work to fulfill my duties as a Reservist," said Paseur. "This school has gone to great lengths to help me throughout the years. That's why I wrote the essay on why Trion deserves the award."

In order to win the "Above and Beyond Award", the employee must have first received the "Patriot Award". The "Patriot Award" is the first of the progressive employee awards in the ESGR awards program. It recognizes individual supervisors and organizations.

Nominated employers receive a Patriot Award certificate and accompanying lapel pin. Every employer for the Patriot Award is eligible for consideration for other awards and recognition based on their level of support

Trion is honored for the opportunity to receive the award, and is thankful to have a teacher like Paseur who has served not only his school, but also his country in such a devoted manner.
