SFS heats up with chile cook-off Published Dec. 9, 2011 By Senior Airman Danielle Purnell 94th AIrlift Wing Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga -- The 94th Airlift Wing Security Forces Squadron hosted a chili cook-off here Dec. 9. Several members entered their recipes into the competition. Other members from around base served as judges. Capt. Robert Mayes, operations officer of the 94th SFS hosted the competition. "This is our second annual event," Mayes said. "Consistency is the key." SFS Staff Sgt. Amy Mahar's "Ma Har' Core Chili" was selected by the judges as the best recipe. "It's just an old family recipe from my grandmother," said Mahar. The second place award went to Master Sgt. David Strickland, 1st Sgt. of the SFS. His chili was named "Diamond Star Chili." "I know what it takes to win now," Strickland said. "It's on next year." The third place winner was SFS Capt. Jimmie Mills with his "Wizard Sleeve Stew." "I'm from Texas," Mills said. "I'm suppose to win!" Mayes closed the event and invited all spectators to "dig in." "Next year, we look forward to hosting our 3rd annual chile cook-off," he said.
