2011; A Year in Review: SFS takes AFRC top spot Published Dec. 30, 2011 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Dobbins' members excelled throughout the 2011 calendar year. Their successes have not only paved the way for future generations, but also has provided an even greater challenge for potential members to meet and surpass the already high expectations they have come to set. The Dobbins' 2011 Year in Review highlights the top base photos and articles based on what members base-wide viewed and searched for. SFS takes AFRC top spot by Don Peek 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs 3/9/2011 - DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE Ga. -- The 94th Security Forces was recognized as the 2010 Air Force Reserve Command's Outstanding SFS Unit of the Year for its numerous contributions and actions to include deployment participations, community activity involvement and successful administrative initiatives. The AFRC award is separated into two categories; the outstanding full-time unit and the outstanding tenant/associate unit. The full-time unit award went to the 94 SFS and was presented by Col. Mary Roehl, AFRC chief of Security Forces, and was accepted by Lt. Col. Timothy H. Martz, 94 SFS commander. Individual awards were presented as well. Staff Sgt. Adam Pollow was recognized as the 2010 AFRC Non-commissioned Officer of the Year. His accomplishments included control of more than 300 personnel and 120 vehicles entering the installation daily with no security breaches, as well as the confiscation of over 100 unauthorized items and contraband from third country nationals during quarters inspection during his deployment to Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq. Additionally, the "Airman 1st Class Elizabeth N. Jacobson Award for Expeditionary Excellence" was presented to Senior Airman Matthew Whaley for his accomplishments during his deployment to Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq and included defeating local nationals smuggling AK47 weapons, initiating explosive responses, and ensuring safe and expedient movements by more than 250 coalition convoys. The "Jacobson Award" recognizes outstanding accomplishments and war fighting contributions by younger members and was created in the name of Airman 1st Class Elizabeth N. Jacobson, the first security forces member to be killed in action. She was killed on September 28, 2005, while supporting convoy security operations in the vicinity of Safwan, Iraq. After the presentations, Col. Timothy E. Tarchick, 94th Airlift Wing Commander, passed on his congratulations and praised unit personnel for their contributions.
