Jim Boylan, PhD, founder of Atlanta Triathlon Club and owner of Triathlon Coaching Services, LLC, attended the Dobbins Top 3 meeting March 3, at the 700th Airlift Squadron Auditorium.

With physical fitness being a priority for many, members of the Top 3 expressed the desire to add some variety to their workout sessions and better prepare for their Fit-to-Fight tests.

"Exercise is a way of life," said Boylan. "Your fitness training should be a five-step process. Pick your target, set your goals, develop your training plan, follow that plan and track your progress."

Atlanta is one of two cities in the country that sponsors a Triathlon Club to promote wellness and physical fitness.

"Socialize with people who have similar goals and priorities as you do," said Boylan. "Get your family involved, prioritize and balance your commitments, and most off all, have fun!"
Boylan also stressed proper hydration, nutrition and amount of rest and recovery were very important.

"Leading up to your Fit-to-Fight test, I recommend eating a portion of carbs such as pasta and potatoes 48 hours before the event," said Boylan. "Hydrate properly with water, salt and electrolytes 24 hours prior."

Senior Master Sgt. Joyce Hughes, Dobbins Top 3 president and Master Sgt. Richard Graddy, vice president presented Boylan with a certificate of appreciation and 700th AS patches for taking time to speak to the organization.

Hughes discussed upcoming events such as the SNCO/NCO Induction and Community College of the Air Force graduation scheduled for the April Unit training Assembly.
