The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, Atlanta Chapter, recently made the Dobbins Air Reserve Base Consolidated Club its monthly meeting location and will host an inaugural luncheon April 26, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Maj Gen Wallace Farris, Jr., 22nd Air Force commander, will serve as guest speaker.

"AFCEA Atlanta moved relocated its monthly meetings to Dobbins to enhance dialog with Armed Forces units located on the base and within the Atlanta Metro area," said Lynn Schneider, AFCEA Atlanta assistant vice president of publicity. "The chapter currently has over 400 members and represents a cross section of both military members and the technical goods and services community of the Atlanta area."

The 22nd AF, headquartered at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, currently has more than 27,000 reservists assigned to 14 wings in 19 states and 130 aircraft assigned. It also includes 24 flying units and 191 support units. On any given day, approximately 5,000 Air Force Reservists serve in the United States, Afghanistan, Iraq and other locations around the world.

AFCEA Atlanta is a not-for-profit professional organization whose charter is to advance communication and electronics disciplines, opportunities, and education between the armed forces of the United States and commercial industry.

"The chapter offers multiple benefits to its members and the community. Counted among these are monthly lunches with speakers from the technical community, education programs that offer emerging science and science teaching tool grants, generous scholarships, and cash awards for science fair participants," said Schneider.
The chapter also provides USO support at the Atlanta airport for recurring rest and recuperation flights, and during the holiday season, Operation Block Leave for our returning war fighting heroes.
