A sign of the times Published April 23, 2012 By Don Peek 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- As part of an upgrade to Hangar 5, on April 17 construction crews remove signage from the structure that could be considered the last reminder of the existence of the former Naval Air Station Atlanta. The weathered sign was removed one letter at a time in preparation for new paint. Dobbins Base Civil Engineer Office, overseeing the project, involves interior and exterior upgrades including a new roof, heating and air conditioning, and interior finishes. The hangar, a familiar site now belonging to Dobbins, houses various organizations, and is used for a number of large assemblies.
