Seven members of Dobbins Air Reserve Base participated in a three-point basketball challenge on May 17 at the base fitness center as part of the base's May Fitness Month initiative.

The top two high scorers were awarded first- and second-place trophies for their efforts. Sinking 14 three-point shots, first place was awarded to Tech Sgt. Douglas Grant, of 94th Logistics Support Squadron. Runner-up was awarded to Damon Pierce, of the Georgia National Guard.

"We come out and play pick-up basketball games during lunchtime on Wednesdays and Thursdays," said Grant. "That gives us some practice for competitions like these."

Contestants completed two rounds where they shot from the three-point line at five possible positions. They were required to shoot from each position at least once, then were able to complete the timed round from their preferred angle.

Fred Ingle, Outdoor Recreation and Fitness Center director, was positioned under the basket to ensure that the shot was made and that the shooter was behind the three-point line. Larry Dudley, Base Fitness Center staff member, acted as both time and score keeper.
