AFCEA meeting July 26

The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, Atlanta Chapter will hold its monthly meeting at the Dobbins Air Reserve Base Consolidated Club July 26, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Col. Joseph H. Scherrer, 689th Combat Communications Wing commander, Robins Air Force Base, Ga., will serve as guest speaker.

Scherrer leads an expeditionary cyber operations mission that encompasses more than $600 million worth of deployable equipment and 1,500 active duty Airmen who provide combat communications and air traffic control and landing systems capabilities.

AFCEA is a not-for-profit professional organization whose charter is to advance communication and electronics disciplines, opportunities, and education between the armed forces of the United States and commercial industry.

The Atlanta chapter currently has over 400 members and represents a cross section of both military members and the technical goods and services community of the Atlanta area.

"The chapter offers multiple benefits to its members and the community. Counted among these are monthly lunches with speakers from the technical community, education programs that offer emerging science and science teaching tool grants, generous scholarships, and cash awards for science fair participants," Lynn Schneider, AFCEA Atlanta assistant vice president of publicity.
