AF Reserve puts chief orientation course on hold

The Chief Orientation Course taught at the Professional Development Center here has been cancelled until further notice due to sequestration budget cuts, according to Air Force Reserve Command personnel officials.

The orientation course is a perquisite for promotion to Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force Reserve. Personnel official said the requirement will be temporarily waived. However, all members selected for promotion to E-9 during the waiver period will be required to sign a statement of understanding confirming they will attend the course within a year of when the orientation classes resume.

Eligible E-9s and E-9 selects need to work with their servicing Force Development Office to submit an AF Form 224 to secure a class date. Personnel officials said class attendance requests will be handled through the normal process.
