Airmen from the 94th Civil Engineering Squadron electrical shop conducted annual training on Feb. 1 in Lawrenceville, Ga., which consisted of exterior electrical work.

Master Sgt. Brandon Mitchell, 94th CES electrical supervisor, acted as the point of contact between the Airmen and Jackson Electric Membership Corporation, who provided this opportunity for training.

"This was great way for our Airmen to get signed off on core competencies," said Mitchell. "This was basically low-cost for the Reserve creating a 'win-win' for the Reservists and Jackson and builds on our relationship with the local community."

Dobbins does not have the proper equipment or facility to train our Airmen on pole climbing, pole rescue, pole installation or bucket truck operation. As a result, the 94th CES has partnered up with Jackson EMC, and completes this training annually.

This training is not only important for Airmen - like Senior Airman Kenneth Johnson, 94th CES electrical specialist - in their military duties, but also in their civilian capacity.

"I am applying for civilian electrician jobs," said Johnson. "Civil engineers work all over the base. My shop wires up buildings and can do repairs. Now that I have these experiences and skills, I can be competitive in the job market."
