Airmen of the 94th Airlift Wing completed the second phase of preparations for an upcoming Operational Readiness Exercise Feb. 3 at the Transportation Proficiency Center on Dobbins Air Reserve Base.

Sessions included classroom and practical application training. An additional fly-away exercise is scheduled for later this year.

"There are three stations each chalk, or group, goes through," said Senior Airman Zeni Jones, 94th Airlift Wing emergency management journeyman. "The first station, ability to survive and operate (ATSO) review, is the classroom portion where they talk about the roles of the unit control center, mission oriented protective posture, chemical detection, decontamination and unexploded ordnance marking."

The next station was Ground Crew Ensemble Familiarization, according to Jones. Airmen practiced donning their MOPP gear at different MOPP levels. Third was PAR team overview. Participants went outside and received training on what to do on a base, post-attack - Airmen reviewed actions such as marking hazards and how to notify personnel of post-attack hazards.

Brown offered this tip to ORE participants, "use your Airman's Manual. It has all the answers for these scenarios, and you are allowed to reference it."

The Airman's Manual is also known as Air Force Pamphlet 10-100.

This phase of the ORE prep was the second of three.

The first phase included equipment issue and mock deployment preparation, and the next phase will consist of passenger boarding, cargo loading and take-off of a C-130 Hercules.

"These preparations have gone extremely well," said Lt. Col. "Bubba" Smith, 94th Operations Group chief of combat readiness. "Our biggest asset is our people. Everybody is stepping up and really taking this seriously. As a result, we are learning from our mistakes and we will be ready for the actual exercise."
